Introduction to Interaction and User-Centred Design

Wrap up of the Semester and freshening up the Website!

Overall, this semester was quite a ride. With the impacts of COVID-19 shutting down the campus, weโ€™ve all had to adapt to new circumstances in our efforts to become the Designers of tomorrow! In retrospect, I came out of this unit being far more pleased with what Iโ€™ve learned, and have managed to establish thisโ€ฆ

Week 12 in Review:

The time has come to wrap up the Hi-Fi task, and overall, Iโ€™m really pleased with the visual consistency Iโ€™ve been able to present for this task. The transition between my low-fi version (which you can see in action here!) and my Hi-Fi went pleasantly well, and I found it remained really in line withโ€ฆ

Weeks 10 & 11 in Review:

In class weโ€™ve all started working on our Hi-Fi prototypes. Iโ€™ve mainly spent time figuring out some of the basics of Figma, and experimenting with the various tools that Figma has to offer. Iโ€™ve realized that now with the experimentation of Figma that itโ€™s not just the consistency in shape, but the colour and textโ€ฆ

Week 7 in Review:

With our steps into hi-fi prototyping beginning to take place, itโ€™ll be important to develop a stronger understanding on how to communicate effective ideas and how to transition. To plan for my Hi-Fi prototype, I developed a low-fi version of an app called โ€œFeelinโ€™ Hungryโ€, and mapped out the planner in my art book inโ€ฆ

Week 6 in Review:

With COVID-19 suddenly taking a massive effect on the university, Iโ€™ve been presented with a far different circumstance with my studies and how to approach them. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, we arenโ€™t able to attend classes in person anymore, and Iโ€™ll admit that it was really disappointing, as I was really enjoying the engagementโ€ฆ

Week 5 in Review:

During Week 5 we were introduced into essentially the foundations of low-fi prototyping. It was honestly really fun and engaging getting to interact in a group with some of my fellow peers in order to come up with a low-fi app concept. During the class we were split into several groups and were tasked withโ€ฆ

What I think: Good Product Design (Rig 500 Gaming Headset)

The Rig 500 Gaming Headset is in my opinion, an exceptional case of a well designed product. Why is it so exceptional? Well, the headset is designed with the user front and center, and with prolonged use in mind. Essentially the headset is made out of three different components: This is atypical to the standardโ€ฆ

Week 2 in Review:

Todayโ€™s class was an interesting introduction into the world of User Centric Design. We discussed and reviewed what representations of bad User Design was, and how important designing products that would be able to function on a broad scale while emphasising how important it was to be inclusive of as many people as possible. Week 1 in Review:

In this introductory week to Interaction and User Centric Design I had initially entered with a bit of dread, expecting to be instructed with the task of using coding skills in order to construct websites. I had already taken some reading into what the course would have been like in the leading into the class.โ€ฆ
