With having the broader storyboard in mind for the narrative, I set about gathering all the clips I felt were relevant to communicating my narrative. In my first week, the 30 second clip I developed utilizing my footage was always going to be my climax. The repetitive use of imagery, and continuous cuts to the nuclear bomb would be a strong way to conclude the story I want to communicate. However, when filtering through audio on websites to find appropriate content to mix, I found that a lot of it was quite exaggerated or overpowering. When thinking about the narrative context, I wanted to take an approach that relied on the music building a sense of tension that could ultimately peak at the finale. I found perfect audio sampling to use from “Violent Earth”, which features quite old, warped, distorted music, along with noises of a volcano erupting and the wind blowing. This, combined with static, would lead to me starting to investigate audio layering techniques, so that I could emphasise the feeling of discomfort in the final video. I also watched chapter 7 on LinkedIn Learning, and decided to continue to watch further, having found useful information in chapter 8, that discussed the use of still images to communicate narrative, which is exactly what I plan to do for my video. My hope is in by using stills, I can draw the viewers focus onto specific locations in the video for key moments.
