Unfortunately due to some circumstances at the time, I had missed out on the guest lecture from the third years coming into class. I had spoken with my tutors and was advised to come up with various questions and think about what the answers to those would’ve been coming from third years. I had actually given some thought prior to the guest lecture about what I’d like to know, and some of the questions I was going to ask were: “What was your networking experience like throughout university?” “For any of you who’ve done freelance work, what did you find most challenging?” and “any recommendations going into second year?”. I felt like these three questions would’ve highlighted both my anticipation for the upcoming years, in both my academics, and in my career. Upon thinking about what some of the answers to those, it could honestly be quite broad, which was deliberate on my part, since I’d have liked to have heard from maybe two peoples perspectives in the industry and university life. I think that some of the feedback would’ve echoed the ideas of taking every opportunity that would’ve been presented to me, so getting involved in competitions, getting in touch with tutors and friends, and keeping up with modern trends. I think that what the comments might’ve been about challenging would’ve been some of the initial learning curves that I’m going through right now in my first semester, of learning about speed, being efficient, and not over committing to ideas, but focusing on a large quantity so that I can eventually refine individual pieces into quality. As for recommendations into second year? Well if I’d have to guess, it’d be to be open minded, and keep working hard!
