From the start of this Q&A, was this emphasis of social media and wide reach, and getting started utilizing every opportunity to my ability. This was really interesting, as several weeks ago we learned about the importance of networking, and it encouraged me to grab hold of all the forms of social media I could. I think it’s something that I’ll need to continue to explore, as historically I’ve tended to meander and tip toe my way around social media, but during Chris’ Q&A is these ideas of your image, and who you are, and being able to explore opportunities wherever I can. How to communicate ideas, and with other individuals to provide opportunities. What was really interesting was him discussing the ideas of personal branding, as he mentioned that it’s a fairly new phenomenon, as I had thought that it’s something that had existed for far longer. Chris bringing emphasis on being able to discuss your own personal philosophy and communicate exceptionally, and that by making yourself well-spoken will lead to success. This made me think more about what I can do and what the journey of freelancing will be like for me, as I’ve felt like I want to push more of myself into my art and my work. Throughout the Q&A I noticed that Chris had more dialogue, and was exceptionally charismatic, and it’s something that’s been established in previous discussions in class and online work. The ideas behind communication, verbally and physically, and the crucial ability to be open-minded are something I wasn’t expecting to ever be so emphasized in the design industry, but now looking at it, makes so much sense. Really interesting!
